The college dedicated and experienced staff treat each student of the Avalon College family individually and support his or her social and emotional needs. Individual counselling is available and can be arranged in the student’s first language.
The curriculum at Avalon College is designed to meet the needs of students. In teaching the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, their classes have a special focus on the range of text types that are extensively used in Australian schools. The broad curriculum integrates the teaching of English for mathematics, science, humanities, media and physical education. Small classes offer students the best possible opportunity to achieve their maximum potential. The development of Individual Learning Plans allows for each student’s progress to be monitored and individual needs met.
Avalon students are encouraged to develop skills of teamwork, independence and personal responsibility. The highly trained staff run the After-school Activities Program involving team building and sports activities, games, dancing, trivia and talent nights and themed dinners. Using English in different social contexts continues the learning of the classroom and reinforces the values of Avalon’s pure English immersion experience.
The College is set on a historic, beautiful, rural 35-hectare property by the sea. Living at Avalon College is like being part of a large family.
