Founded in 1843, Bishop’s is a primarily undergraduate, English-language university with five faculties and over 100 programs. Tucked between two rivers in the green hills of the Eastern Townships region of Quebec, their 550-acre campus hosts a diverse and multitalented international student body of about 2,800 full-time students, many of whom live right on campus. Bishop’s is the smallest of Quebec’s English-language universities and one of the most close-knit university environments in all of Canada. With intimate class sizes and a personalized educational experience, you will know your professors, and they will know you. You are never just a number here. They foster a genuine sense of community and belonging that is shared by their students and their family of over 23,000 proud alumni, all of whom have left their purple mark on the world. In 1843, the founders of Bishop’s University declared their goal: “to offer the country a sound and liberal education.” To this day, they remain focused on this mission, delivering a broad education in an intimate learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery. The characteristics defined below are, in essence, their promise. They represent the type of education their founders first spoke of in 1843 and what students can expect if they choose Bishop’s: an outstanding education and a complete university experience.
