Dawson College is a large, long-established educational institution within Quebec’s network of CEGEPs that is woven into the fabric of academic life in Montreal. It was the first English-language CEGEP when it started offering classes in 1969. Today, it is the largest CEGEP in Quebec.
Dawson students, faculty and staff embody a broad spectrum of languages and ethnic origins reflective of the multicultural character of Montreal itself. This diversity greatly enriches all members of the College community by providing a welcoming and stimulating environment in which to learn and work, and where students are prepared to assume their role as productive and responsible citizens of the world.
The College offers both two-year pre-university programs and three-year career programs. Pre-university programs are designed to prepare students for further studies at university. Career programs, because of their specific nature, lead directly to employment.
Dawson size and experience means that they can offer a lot of programs and interesting courses, plus has an amazing library and gyms, and other facilities, like labs, fitness and combat rooms with the latest in technology and equipment. It is proud of the wide variety of extra-curricular services, programs and activities that are available to students and to the Dawson community. The college believes campus life is an important part of the overall Cegep experience and encourage students to get involved.
Dawson College is easily accessible, linked directly underground to the Atwater Metro station. Above ground, the school sits on 12 acres of green space in the heart of Montreal. When the weather is nice, students use the grounds to play Frisbee or just read under a tree.
