The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) offers students over 150 qualifications from certificate and diploma, to degree and postgraduate level at campuses in Hawke’s Bay, Tairawhiti (Gisborne) and Auckland. Students can learn at one of their Regional Learning Centres situated in Hastings, Maraenui, Ruatoria, Tokomaru Bay, Waipukurau and Wairoa. They will be taught by lecturers who are respected academics and industry professionals.
EIT’s degree and postgraduate programmes are underpinned by lecturer research activity, directly linking to their teaching. Ranked in the top two polytechnicsinstitutes of technology in New Zealand, independently assessed EIT academic staff research performance is held in high regard nationally.
At the Napier campus, EIT Students Association (Younited) runs a variety of student events throughout the year to assist students to get to know each other and become part of the EIT campus community. Younited introduces students onto the campus each year during orientation (O Week) at the start of semesters one and two, which includes activities such as student games, live music, information stalls and free lunches. During the year, Younited will also offer students a range of activities both on and off campus. These include cultural celebrations, inter-school quiz events and sports days.
The EIT Libraries provide study and research facilities for students, staff and community members in a relaxed and friendly environment. Its highly qualified and experienced librarians are available to assist students utilise the wide range of resources that support study in all EIT programmes. Resources include books, journals, newspapers, electronic resources, DVDs and CDs. Computers, laptops and laptop connections are also available for student use.
EIT Hawke’s Bay is one of New Zealand’s most attractive campuses with superb architecture and shaded outdoor areas for study on warm days. Tairawhiti’s two campuses are located in the heart of Gisborne, near the Taruheru River, and students can’t get more central than EIT Auckland’s location on Queen Street. EIT has bountiful choices when it comes to Cafés and Restaurants. Hawke’s Bay has Bean There Café and Eat Café plus the Scholars Restaruant. Tairawhiti has the Hub Café and Restaurant 282.
