John Abbott College is a public Anglophone college serving students since 1970. It offers a wide range of career and pre-university programs specifically designed to give students the necessary tools to succeed in society. In addition to having a dedicated and knowledgeable teaching staff and quality facilities, the college goes above and beyond by offering outstanding services to its students, and all this from a breath-taking lakeside campus.
It is the only English language CEGEP in the West Island of Montreal and one of five English language CEGEPs in Québec. The college offers pre-university and career programs as well as a wide range of continuing education programs for students who want to study part time. John Abbott College also offers Summer Language and Academic Immersion programs for international students.
Since its beginning, the college has actively supported participation in sports endeavors as one of the important avenues in the growth of the student. The specific aim of the Sports and Recreation Department is to implement programs which will meet student needs and interests in the areas of recreation, intramural, and inter-collegiate activities. John Abbott College also has Student Activities Department and Student Committees that organizes events such as Student Debate, a Model United Nations Conference, Winter Carnival, Multicultural Week and Homophobia Awareness Day. The student government, student newspaper, student radio station and over 30 student clubs thrive on campus with the participation of approximately 1,500 students who learn practical skills and develop lifelong friendships.
