The University of Tasmania's English Language Centre offers a variety of English language programs taught by fully qualified, highly committed teachers. These include direct entry English programs into degree courses and IELTS preparation. The Centre is a member of English Australia and is a registered IELTS testing Centre. All courses are regulated by the Australian Government agency TEQSA.

The Centre helps students who are looking for an English course that will help them meet the English language entry requirements for entry into university, or if students want to improve the English skills for fun or business, they can find a suitable course for their needs. Students can improve academic English skills and meet the English entry requirement for the chosen degree with the UTAS Access Direct Entry course. Successful completion of this program at the relevant level satisfies the English requirement for University of Tasmania undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
