WelTec was first born as Petone Technical School in 1904, Whitireia was launched in 1985, and the two joined in 2012 to become known as Whitireia and WelTec. Then in September 2022, we became Whitireia and WelTec business division of Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (Te Pūkenga). WelTec is one of New Zealand's oldest tertiary education institutions and the second-oldest in Wellington. It has been helping people find their vocation since 1904, in 2020 WelTec became a subsidiary of NZIST. The institute offers a range of industry-led qualifications from trades through to degrees and postgraduate programmes that are future-focused, developed alongside industry and provide students with practical skills so they can pursue their career goals. The business, industry and professional partnerships are of enormous benefit to the students. It has a dedicated team to support international students. The expert staff can help students choose the right programme and provide information and advice to prepare them to live and study in New Zealand. WelTech have campuses at five locations across the Wellington region. All the campuses have modern training facilities and work zones.
