The South Seas Film & Television School, Animation College, Yoobee School of Design, AMES - The Institute of IT and Design & Arts (Canterbury) together form the Yoobee Colleges, an interdisciplinary college with six campuses located across New Zealand.
The colleges enjoy rich histories and have been working collaboratively for several years to offer complementary pathway programmes. Students can choose from study options including the below listed:
- The Yoobee College Bachelor of Animation is New Zealand's only degree-level course specialising in 2D and 3D character animation, producing world-class animators who are at the very top of their field.
- Bachelor of Software Engineering (Creative) (Level 7) offers a transdisciplinary programme bringing computer science, programming, art and design, social science and business knowledge together. It is heavily focused on project-based learning to help students graduate with real-world skills. Over 50% of course time is dedicated to tutor-led programming, with an additional 15% to group projects.
- The Certificate of Creative Media (Level 4) prepares students for entry to Yoobee degree programmes. Students who successfully complete this programme will meet the portfolio requirements for the Bachelor of Animation, and academic requirements for the Bachelor of Software Engineering.
- The Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 6) teaches students typography, layout and how to capture and manipulate images. It deepens students' understanding of the conventional design process, and shows them how to channel that knowledge into work such as digital packaging and posters to magazines, brochures and ads, and gets students ready for progressing to study at university. On completion of the level 6 diploma at Yoobee, students can progress to the Bachelor of Design Innovation at Victoria University of Wellington and receive up to 18 months to 24 months credits towards the degree.
